Your Privacy Matters
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Who We Are 👋

Maitey

Governing law: Australia.

2. What We Collect 📋

  • Account details (name and email) — collected only if you create an account or sign in with a provider (e.g., Apple/Google). A visible Apple or Google sign-in account is required before purchasing or activating Travel Days so Maitey can link your balance and recovery status to you.
  • Purchase and Maitey Pro access details — purchase identifiers, product identifiers, transaction status, entitlement status, Travel Day balance, Travel Day activation and expiry times, restore status, and whether an active legacy monthly/yearly subscription, Lifetime Pro, or another entitlement currently keeps Maitey Pro active. These details may be processed through the App Store, RevenueCat, Firebase, or related payment/access infrastructure.
  • Location and place context — collected only if you explicitly grant permission for location-based features or choose a location/time zone for travel, Discover, weather, or Holidays tools.
  • Diagnostics & crash data — optional, collected only if you opt in when reporting bugs or through system crash reports.
  • Device information — basic device and app version information may be processed for support and security.
  • App usage and settings — limited, non-sensitive configuration data (for example, display units, currency choices, theme/wallpaper preferences, audio-tour voice/duration, and whether optional widgets are enabled) may be processed to keep Maitey working correctly, and may sync via iCloud if you enable it.
  • Discover and AI prompts — prompts, selected destinations, app context you provide, and generated results may be sent to AI providers and, where a feature needs current information, search providers.
  • Social imports — if you share a social or web link with Maitey, we may process the link URL, shared text/caption, source host, page metadata, page text snippets, preview-image data/text, detected places, map results, and imported collection details to create trip suggestions.
  • Social contact and QR data — if you use Social or QR Studio, Maitey may store and process the details you enter or scan on your device, such as your display name, home country, phone number, email, social handles (including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, Reddit, YouTube, and LinkedIn), website, current trip/city, contact cards, contact photos, notes about people you met, favourite status, scanned Maitey contact QR payloads, saved QR cards/history, luggage tag details, Wi-Fi network details, map/location links, emergency contact details, allergies, medications, and notes you choose to include in QR cards. If you explicitly create a Maitey Privacy Link QR for a luggage tag, Maitey stores one email address and QR link status on our servers. If you create a Social Privacy Link QR, Maitey stores one email address for the public web page and the selected My Card fields needed for Maitey users to import your contact.
  • Holidays and leave-planning data — selected year, time zone, home/travel location, generated public-holiday payloads, leave entries, leave entitlement/used/remaining amounts, and related planning tips may be processed to show holiday and annual-leave suggestions.
  • iCloud sync data — selected non-sensitive app preferences you choose to sync with iCloud (see Section 6) are stored in your private iCloud storage and associated with your Apple ID. Sensitive documents, budgets, expenses, all trip planner items, Social imports, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, QR Studio payloads, notes, stickies, passport items, and booking inbox data are excluded from Maitey-controlled iCloud sync by design unless we clearly ask for your consent in a future feature.

3. What Stays On Your Device 💾

  • Your user-generated content (e.g., documents, photos, journals, audio, budgets, expenses, social-import collections, Social contacts, contact photos, saved QR cards/history, QR payloads, notes, stickies, passport items, booking inbox data, and trip planner items) is stored locally on your device by default.
  • Documents you mark as sensitive, budgets, expenses, all trip planner items, Social imports, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, QR Studio payloads, notes, stickies, passport items, and booking inbox data are designed to remain on this device only and are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey, even if you turn on an in-app iCloud backup or sync option, unless a future feature clearly asks for your consent. The exception is when you explicitly create a Maitey Privacy Link QR: luggage Privacy Links upload one email address, and Social Privacy Links upload one public email plus the selected My Card fields needed for Maitey import.
  • Emergency Contact QR data is protected by Maitey’s in-app sensitive-document access flow before viewing inside the app, but exported, printed, screenshotted, scanned, or shared copies cannot remain protected by Maitey’s Face ID/device authentication outside the app.
  • Maitey may create a periodic local backup file on your device for local recovery. That local backup is not uploaded to CloudSync by Maitey.
  • If you delete the app, reset your device, or set up a new phone without separately exporting or migrating that local backup, on-device content and local backups may be removed and cannot be recovered by us.
  • Separate from Maitey’s own sync features, your device or system-level backups (such as an iOS device backup to iCloud or to a computer) may still include copies of local data, which are managed entirely by you and your platform provider.

4. Why We Collect Data 🎯

  • To provide and personalise app features.
  • To generate, display, scan, save, print, share, open, and disable the Social cards, luggage tags, Maitey Privacy Link pages, and QR codes you request.
  • To process, restore, and verify purchases; maintain Travel Day balances; activate 24-hour Travel Day access; and recognise retained legacy monthly/yearly subscriptions, Lifetime Pro, or other active Maitey Pro entitlements.
  • To maintain performance, security, and reliability.
  • To communicate important updates and respond to support requests.
  • To enable cross-device access for selected non-sensitive data when you opt in to iCloud sync.

5. Location Data 📍

If enabled, location is used only to support relevant features such as weather, nearby Discover ideas, maps, Trip tools, and Holidays context. You can change permissions anytime in your device settings. You may also use location-based features by manually entering or selecting a place where supported.

6. iCloud Sync ☁️

  • iCloud sync is optional and can be enabled/disabled in the app or system settings.
  • When enabled, selected non-sensitive app preferences (for example, display units, currency choices, theme/wallpaper preference, audio-tour voice/duration, and widget on/off state) are stored in your private iCloud container and associated with your Apple ID.
  • Sensitive documents, budgets, expenses, all trip planner items, Social imports, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, QR Studio payloads, notes, stickies, passport items, and booking inbox data are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey, even if an in-app iCloud backup or sync option is turned on, unless a future feature clearly obtains your consent. These items stay on your device, subject only to local backups and any separate device-level backups you manage outside Maitey.
  • Sync data is transmitted and stored using Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. Apple acts as a service provider/processor for this storage.
  • Where supported by the platform and configuration, iCloud may use end-to-end encryption for certain categories of data. For details and eligible data types, please refer to Apple’s iCloud and Advanced Data Protection documentation.
  • We do not have access to your Apple ID credentials. We do not receive your iCloud content except limited metadata necessary for sync functionality.
  • You can stop syncing at any time. Disabling sync on a device may remove local copies while leaving data in iCloud until you delete it from iCloud Drive/Settings.

7. AI Features & Third-Party Services 🤖

  • AI chat, Discover, Social imports, Holidays, language tools, and audio tools may be powered by third-party providers and can be inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Protect your personal info — only share what you’re comfortable sending to AI, search, map, or external web services.
  • Do not include sensitive personal information in prompts, uploads, shared links, captions, or imported content. You are responsible for what you choose to share with AI.
  • Discover may process your prompt, destination/focus label, generated app context, and search snippets to provide nearby ideas, mini plans, hotels, audio tours, language content, and practical travel tips.
  • Social imports may process shared links, captions/shared text, web metadata, page snippets, preview images, OCR text, detected places, and map/search results to identify trip-relevant venues and save them as suggestions or collections.
  • Social and QR Studio features may encode the information you choose into QR payloads, printable luggage tags, exported cards, or create a Maitey Privacy Link QR that stores approved details on Maitey servers and presents a Maitey web landing page. Social Privacy Link web pages show only one email address, while scans inside Maitey can import the selected My Card fields you chose to include. Social Privacy Link QR and location QR codes are share-sheet only in Maitey and are not offered as printable cards. When you share, print, scan, or open a QR code, that information may be handled by device cameras, operating-system share sheets, printers, map apps, Wi-Fi joining flows, social platforms, messaging apps, web browsers, hosting providers, or other third-party tools selected by you or the scanner.
  • QR codes, printed cards, luggage tags, shared images/PDFs, and screenshots can be viewed, copied, scanned, photographed, forwarded, saved, uploaded, or misused by others. Luggage tags may be visible to carriers, airport or hotel staff, lost-property handlers, and members of the public. Maitey Privacy Link QR codes may stop working if Maitey disables QR access, disables a specific Privacy Link, cannot provide the QR access service, or shuts down. Only include information you are comfortable exposing in that context.
  • Holidays tools may process your selected home/travel location, year, time zone, generated public-holiday data, leave settings, and leave entries to provide holiday and annual-leave planning suggestions.
  • When using in-app web search, Discover search, or browsing features, avoid searching for or accessing inappropriate, adult-oriented, or otherwise unsuitable content. Search results are provided by third-party services and may not always be filtered.
  • We may integrate third-party APIs or link to external websites (such as OpenAI, Apple services, Google, maps/search providers, social platforms, and travel websites). Their privacy practices apply to their services, and we cannot control or guarantee the content they provide.

8. How We Store & Protect Data 🔒

  • Limited account data (e.g., sign-in identifiers) may be stored with the relevant authentication or platform providers (e.g., Apple or Google) as required to enable access.
  • Purchase and Maitey Pro access details may be stored or processed by the App Store, RevenueCat, Firebase, and Maitey backend services so Travel Days, active passes, restores, legacy subscriptions, and Lifetime Pro access can work across app sessions and supported devices.
  • Shared social links and pending/imported social collections may be stored in the app group container so the share extension and main app can pass them between each other.
  • Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, QR Studio payloads, trip plans, budgets, expenses, notes, stickies, documents, passport items, booking inbox data, and saved social imports are stored locally on your device by Maitey. They are not included in Maitey-controlled iCloud sync at this time. If you create a Maitey Privacy Link QR, approved QR link details are also stored on Maitey servers so scanners can open the web page and, for Social QR, Maitey users can import your selected My Card fields.
  • If iCloud sync is enabled, synced non-sensitive preference data is stored in your private iCloud storage administered by Apple.
  • We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. How Long We Keep Data ⏳

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Maitey Privacy Link QR records may remain available until disabled, deleted, expired, or no longer needed to operate the QR feature. Deleted content may persist temporarily in backups where applicable.

  • Purchase, entitlement, and Travel Day access records may be retained as needed to provide paid access, prevent duplicate spending, support restores, comply with platform/payment requirements, and resolve support or fraud issues.
  • iCloud-synced data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it or disable sync and remove remaining copies via iCloud settings.
  • Local, on-device data (including sensitive documents, trip planner items, budgets, expenses, social-import collections, Social contacts, saved QR cards/history, QR Studio payloads, notes, stickies, passport items, booking inbox data, and local holiday/leave settings) remains under your control and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app, subject to local backup files and any separate device-level backups you manage.

10. Sharing Your Data 🤝

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data with:

  • Service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, customer support, AI, search, maps, notifications, subscriptions, purchase/access verification, crash reporting, and app infrastructure) under appropriate agreements.
  • Legal authorities if required by law.
  • Apple, solely as a platform provider operating iCloud on your behalf.
  • People or services you choose to share with, including recipients who scan your Social card, QR codes, printed luggage tags, emergency cards, shared images/PDFs, or App Store/social invitations. These are user-directed disclosures controlled by you, and recipients may handle the information under their own practices.

11. Your Rights (Australia) 🇦🇺

You can:

  • Access and correct your personal information.
  • Withdraw consent for certain processing (like location, optional diagnostics, or iCloud sync).
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

12. Children’s Privacy 👧🧒

Our app is not directed to children under the age required by local law without appropriate parental consent. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child, contact us to request deletion.

13. Changes to This Policy ♻️

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above. Continued use means acceptance of the updated policy.
