Terms of Service

The Short Version (Pre-Flight Briefing)

• 📅 Age: 13+ only
• 🆓 Free & paid: Some features are free, others need a subscription
• 💳 Payments: Handled by the App Store; purchases are final (no refunds)
• 📸 Your stuff: Photos, notes, trip plans, and recordings stay on your device unless you choose to share or sync with iCloud
• 🔒 Sensitive docs & planner: Docs you mark sensitive and all trip planner items stay on this device and are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey
• ☁️ iCloud sync: Optional; where available, it stores selected non-sensitive data in your private iCloud container (Apple provides the infrastructure)
• 🤖 AI chat: Helpful but not always accurate — double-check important things
• 💰 Trip Budget: You enter the numbers; we just categorise & total them
• 🔎 Web search: In-app Google search opens results in a mini browser with SafeSearch parameters where available, but results are provided by Google and may still include inappropriate or inaccurate content

1. What Maitey Is (and Isn’t)

Maitey is a friendly trip-planning companion with user-generated content, AI-powered suggestions, real-time weather, a day-by-day trip planner, and simple budgeting tools.

We’re not a travel agent and can’t control airlines, hotels, weather, roads, or other providers. Any suggested routes, timings, or activities in the trip planner are informational only; you remain responsible for your choices and real-world safety.

2. Who Can Use Maitey

• You must be 13+
• Use Guest mode (no account; some settings won’t persist) or create an account
• Some features require an active subscription

3. Subscriptions & Payments

• Some features are free or available for a limited time in a free trial; premium features require payment
• Payments are processed by the App Store
• All purchases are final — we don’t issue refunds (subject to App Store policies)

4. Your Content & Our Approach

When you add content (photos, notes, itineraries, audio, trip plans, documents):

• Content stays on your device by default
• We don’t collect your media unless it’s necessary for a feature you enable (for example, cloud sync or sharing)
• Sensitive documents and trip planner items are designed to remain on-device only and are excluded from iCloud sync and other cloud backup features in Maitey
• You can delete your content anytime; backups you control (for example, device or iCloud backups you manage outside Maitey) may persist
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law

5. iCloud Sync ☁️

• iCloud sync or backup features, where available, are optional and can be enabled or disabled in the app or system settings.
• When enabled, selected non-sensitive app data (for example, certain settings or logs) may be stored in your private iCloud container and associated with your Apple ID.
• Sensitive documents and all trip planner items are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey, even if you enable an in-app iCloud backup or sync option.
• Apple provides the iCloud infrastructure and acts as a service provider/processor for storage.
• Where supported by Apple, some data types may be protected with end-to-end encryption (see Apple’s iCloud and Advanced Data Protection documentation).
• We don’t receive your Apple ID credentials and do not access your iCloud content except for limited metadata necessary to operate sync.
• You are responsible for managing your iCloud storage and settings, including removing data if you stop using sync. Disabling sync may remove local copies while leaving data in iCloud until you delete it via iCloud settings.

6. AI Chat — Fair Use & Safety

• Don’t spam, abuse, or attempt to overload the service
• Don’t generate illegal, hateful, or harmful content
• Don’t use Maitey (including AI chat or the in-app browser) to search for, create, or share inappropriate or adult-oriented content
• AI responses can be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete — always verify
• We’re not liable for actions you take based on AI outputs
• Protect your personal info — only share what you’re comfortable sending to AI

7. Trip Budget — Friendly Disclaimer

• All values are provided by you (Maitey doesn’t estimate prices)
• We categorise and calculate totals for convenience
• We’re not liable for errors, omissions, or financial outcomes

8. Travel Advice & Trip Planner — Use Your Judgment

We provide tools and suggestions, including a timeline-based trip planner, maps, and travel ideas, but you’re in control. We:

• Don’t guarantee completeness, accuracy, or availability of any information, routes, or timings
• Aren’t responsible for delays, cancellations, or losses caused by third parties or events
• Aren’t responsible for road, transport, or safety conditions — you must follow local laws, signage, and safety advice

9. Privacy, Location & Data

We may use your name, email, and location (if you enable it) to personalise your experience.

If you enable any iCloud sync or backup feature, selected non-sensitive app data will be stored in your private iCloud storage. Sensitive documents and all trip planner items are always stored on-device only and excluded from Maitey-controlled iCloud sync.

10. Community Guidelines

Be kind and respectful.

• No illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• No harassment, hacking, or misuse
• Don’t use Maitey or its features (including AI chat and in-app web views) to access, share, or promote inappropriate, adult-oriented, or otherwise unsuitable content

11. Third-Party Services & Links

Maitey connects to APIs, AI services, and external websites, including search providers like Google.

• When you use in-app Google search, results are loaded in a mini browser from Google’s own website.
• We apply SafeSearch parameters where available, but we cannot guarantee that all adult or inappropriate content will be filtered out.
• These third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies — you should review them and use them at your own discretion.
• You are responsible for what you search for and view, and you must not use Maitey to access illegal or adult content.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If you keep using Maitey after changes, you’re agreeing to the updated Terms.
