Terms of Service

The Short Version (Pre‑Flight Briefing)

• 📅 Age: 13+ only
• 🆓 Free & paid: Some features are free; Maitey Pro can be unlocked with Free Travel Days, purchased Travel Days, active legacy subscriptions, Lifetime Pro, or another active entitlement
• 💳 Payments: Travel Days and legacy subscriptions are handled through the App Store; purchases are final (no refunds, subject to App Store policies)
• 🧭 Maitey IP: Maitey’s app, designs, workflows, prompts, feature names, databases, code, logos, and distinctive product experiences belong to Maitey or its licensors
• 📸 Your stuff: Photos, notes, trip plans, budgets, recordings, and saved Social/QR content stay on your device unless you choose to share, print, export, or back them up outside Maitey
• 🔒 Local-first content: Docs, notes, stickies, budgets, expenses, booking inbox data, saved social imports, Social contacts, QR history, and all trip planner items stay on this device and are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey. Approved QR link details are uploaded only when you explicitly create a Maitey Privacy Link QR
• ☁️ iCloud sync: Optional; where available, it stores selected non-content preferences in your private iCloud container (Apple provides the infrastructure)
• 🤖 AI features: Chat, Discover, Social imports, Holidays, language tools, and audio tools can be helpful but not always accurate — double‑check important things
• ✈️ Flight Board: Flight details currently come from forwarded booking emails and Maitey’s own timing estimates — no live airline or airport status feed is currently provided
• 💰 Trip Budget: You enter the numbers; we just categorise & total them
• 🔎 Discover & web search: Discover and in‑app Google search may use AI, Google search snippets, maps, and external websites. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, unavailable, or unsuitable despite SafeSearch parameters where available
• 📲 Social imports: Shared social/web links, captions, metadata, page text, preview text, and detected places are processed only to help turn them into trip suggestions. You are responsible for what you share and save
• 🪪 Social & QR codes: Social contact cards, People you met, QR Studio cards, luggage tags, Wi-Fi/location QR codes, emergency contact QR details, and saved QR history may contain personal information you choose to enter or share. Social Privacy Link QR and location QR are share-sheet only in Maitey. QR data is designed to stay local in Maitey unless you print, export, scan, share, back it up outside Maitey, or explicitly create a Maitey Privacy Link QR that stores approved details on Maitey servers so the web landing page and Maitey import can work

1. What Maitey Is (and Isn’t)

Maitey is a friendly trip‑planning companion with user-generated content, AI-powered suggestions, Discover tools, Social and QR sharing tools, Social imports, Holidays and leave-planning tools, real-time weather, a day-by-day trip planner, a flight board built from booking details, and simple budgeting tools. We’re not a travel agent, migration adviser, employment adviser, lawyer, accountant, payroll provider, medical provider, emergency service, lost-property service, identity service, or official holiday authority and can’t control airlines, hotels, employers, governments, weather, roads, QR scanners, people who scan your codes, or other providers. Any suggested routes, timings, holidays, leave windows, places, accommodation, activities, practical tips, emergency card details, or QR/share outputs are informational only; you remain responsible for your choices and real-world safety.

2. Who Can Use Maitey

• You must be 13+
• Use Guest mode (no account; some settings won’t persist) or create an account
• Some features require Maitey Pro access through Free Travel Days, purchased Travel Days, an active legacy monthly/yearly subscription, Lifetime Pro, or another active entitlement

3. Payments

• Some features are free or available for a limited time through Free Travel Days; premium features require Maitey Pro access through purchased Travel Days, an active legacy monthly/yearly subscription, Lifetime Pro, or another active entitlement
• Travel Days are consumable access credits. One activated Travel Day gives 24 hours of Maitey Pro access. Purchased Travel Days are designed not to expire until activated, but once activated the 24-hour access period runs continuously
• Travel Days require a visible Apple or Google sign-in account before purchase or activation so your balance and recovery status can be linked to you. Guest/anonymous users cannot purchase Travel Days
• Existing legacy monthly, yearly, and Lifetime Maitey Pro subscriptions continue to provide Maitey Pro access while they are active or otherwise recognised by Maitey. If a legacy monthly/yearly subscription ends, any available Travel Days may be used to unlock Maitey Pro again
• Payments are processed by the App Store
• All purchases are final — we don’t issue refunds (subject to App Store policies)

4. Your Content & Our Approach

When you add content (photos, notes, itineraries, audio, trip plans, documents, Social contact details, contact photos, saved contacts, QR payloads, luggage tag details, Wi-Fi details, location links, emergency contact details, or printed/exported cards):

• Content stays on your device by default
• We don’t collect your media unless it’s necessary for a feature you enable (e.g., sharing or export)
• Documents, notes, stickies, budgets, expenses, booking inbox data, saved social imports, trip planner items, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, and QR Studio payloads are designed to remain on‑device only and are excluded from Maitey-controlled iCloud sync and other Maitey cloud backup features unless we clearly say otherwise in the app. If you explicitly create a Maitey Privacy Link QR, approved QR link details are uploaded to Maitey servers to operate that web page and, for Social QR, Maitey import
• You can delete your content anytime; backups you control (e.g., device or iCloud backups you manage outside Maitey) may persist
• Once you print, export, screenshot, scan, show, share, or attach content to luggage or another physical item, it may be viewed, copied, saved, forwarded, photographed, indexed, or misused by other people or third-party apps outside Maitey’s control
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law

5. Maitey Intellectual Property & Permitted Use

Maitey and its licensors own or license the app, Services, source code, databases, functionality, software, designs, interface layouts, icons, graphics, text, feature names, workflows, AI prompts and orchestration, recommendation formats, generated product structures, trademarks, service marks, logos, and other materials that make up Maitey. This includes distinctive Maitey experiences such as Discover, Send to Maitey, Social imports, Trip suggestions, Pins, Flight Board, Learn a Language, Budget, Trip Planner, Holidays and leave-planning tools, audio-tour tools, planner flows, dashboard widgets, and related visual or interaction patterns.

You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Maitey as intended through the official app and supported system integrations. Except where these Terms or applicable law allow otherwise, you must not copy, reproduce, modify, translate, adapt, aggregate, republish, distribute, sell, license, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from Maitey or any part of the Services without our prior written permission.

Your own trip plans, photos, notes, documents, recordings, imported links, and other content remain yours. Nothing in this section transfers ownership of your personal content to Maitey. However, you must not use Maitey, Maitey-generated outputs, Maitey data, Maitey workflows, or Maitey screenshots/content to build, train, benchmark, market, or improve a competing or substitute product or service without our written permission.

6. iCloud Sync ☁️

• iCloud sync or backup features, where available, are optional and can be enabled/disabled in the app or system settings.
• When enabled, selected non-content preferences (for example, display units, currency choices, theme/wallpaper preference, audio-tour voice/duration, and widget on/off state) may be stored in your private iCloud container and associated with your Apple ID.
• Documents, notes, stickies, budgets, expenses, booking inbox data, saved social imports, all trip planner items, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, and QR Studio payloads are never uploaded to iCloud by Maitey, even if you enable an in‑app iCloud backup or sync option, unless a future feature clearly asks for your consent and these Terms/Privacy Policy are updated.
• Apple provides the iCloud infrastructure and acts as a service provider/processor for storage.
• Where supported by Apple, some data types may be protected with end‑to‑end encryption (see Apple’s iCloud and Advanced Data Protection documentation).
• We don’t receive your Apple ID credentials and do not access your iCloud content except limited metadata necessary to operate any sync features.
• You are responsible for managing your iCloud storage, settings, and removing data if you stop using sync. Disabling sync may remove local copies while leaving data in iCloud until you delete it via iCloud settings.

7. AI Features — Fair Use & Safety

• Don’t spam, abuse, or attempt to overload the service
• Don’t generate illegal, hateful, or harmful content
• Don’t use Maitey (including AI chat, Discover, Social imports, Holidays tools, language tools, audio tools, or the in-app browser) to search for, create, import, or share inappropriate or adult-oriented content
• AI responses can be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete — always verify
• We’re not liable for actions you take based on AI outputs
• Protect your personal info — only share what you’re comfortable sending to AI or third-party services

Discover, Social Imports & Holidays

Discover may generate nearby ideas, mini plans, hotels, practical tips, audio-tour/language content, and other travel suggestions using prompts you provide, app context, search snippets, maps, and third-party services. Social imports may process shared links, captions, metadata, webpage snippets, preview-image text, and map results to identify trip-relevant places. Holidays tools may use your selected home/travel location, year, time zone, public-holiday data, leave entries, and leave entitlement settings to generate holiday and annual-leave suggestions. These features are informational only and may be wrong, incomplete, unavailable, outdated, or based on third-party data we do not control. Always verify important details with official sources, the venue/provider, your employer, or the relevant authority before making bookings, travel decisions, or leave requests.

Social, QR Studio & Printed/Shared Codes

Social and QR Studio help you create, scan, save, and share travel-ready QR codes and contact cards. Some QR types, such as luggage tags, may be printable; Social Privacy Link QR and location QR codes are share-sheet only in Maitey and are not offered as printable cards. These may include your name, country, phone number, email, social handles, website, current trip or city, contact photos, notes about people you met, luggage tag contact details, Wi-Fi network details, map/location links, emergency contact details, medical notes you choose to enter, and other information embedded in a QR payload. Maitey Privacy Link pages for Social and luggage show one email address only to normal web scanners. Social Privacy Link scans inside Maitey can import the selected My Card fields you chose to include.

You are responsible for the information you put into QR codes, Social cards, emergency cards, luggage tags, printable cards, exported images/PDFs, and shared links. A QR code is not a private security boundary: anyone who can see, photograph, scan, receive, or access the printed/exported code may be able to read or use the information it contains. Luggage tags are especially exposed because they may be visible to airline, airport, hotel, transport, lost-property staff, and members of the public. Share only what you are comfortable making available in that context.

Face ID/device authentication protects access to sensitive areas inside Maitey only. Once you print, export, screenshot, share, scan, or save a QR code outside Maitey, that copy is no longer protected by Maitey’s in-app authentication, privacy controls, deletion tools, or local-only storage design. People who receive your details may save, copy, forward, screenshot, re-share, or upload them elsewhere. Maitey Privacy Link QR codes depend on Maitey keeping QR access available; if Maitey disables QR access, disables a specific Privacy Link, cannot provide the QR access service, or shuts down, those QR codes may become unusable. Maitey is not responsible for how recipients, scanners, finders, carriers, venues, social platforms, printers, operating-system share sheets, browsers, hosting providers, or third-party apps handle information you choose to expose.

8. Trip Budget — Friendly Disclaimer

• All values are provided by you (Maitey doesn’t estimate prices)
• We categorise and calculate totals for convenience
• We’re not liable for errors, omissions, or financial outcomes

9. Travel Advice & Trip Planner — Use Your Judgment

We provide tools and suggestions, including a timeline-based trip planner, maps, Discover, Social imports, Holidays, and travel ideas, but you’re in control. We:

• Don’t guarantee completeness, accuracy, or availability of any information, routes, or timings
• Aren’t responsible for delays, cancellations, or losses caused by third parties or events
• Aren’t responsible for road, transport, or safety conditions — you must follow local laws, signage, and safety advice

Flight Board & Booking Email Information

Maitey’s Flight Board currently uses details taken from booking emails you forward to Maitey, together with Maitey’s own timing estimates for helpful planning cues like airport arrival and likely check‑in windows. Maitey does not currently provide live airline or airport status data. Flight information shown in Maitey may therefore be incomplete, delayed, outdated, or different from official airline or airport information, and is provided for general reference only. You must verify critical flight details directly with the airline or airport before travel. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maitey is not responsible for inaccurate booking‑derived flight information or for any missed flight, delay, cost, loss, or other consequence arising from reliance on it.

10. Privacy, Location & Data

We may use your name, email, location (if you enable it), and information you choose to enter into Social or QR tools to personalise your experience and generate the QR/share outputs you request. If you enable any iCloud sync or backup feature, selected non-content preferences will be stored in your private iCloud storage. Documents, notes, stickies, budgets, expenses, booking inbox data, saved social imports, all trip planner items, Social contact details, People you met, saved QR cards/history, and QR Studio payloads are stored on‑device only and excluded from Maitey‑controlled iCloud sync unless a future feature clearly obtains your consent.

Read our Privacy Policy for details on categories, encryption, retention, and your choices (including how to withdraw consent for optional processing like location, diagnostics, and iCloud sync).

11. Community Guidelines

Be kind and respectful.

• No illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• No harassment, hacking, or misuse
• Don’t use Maitey or its features (including AI chat and in‑app web views) to access, share, or promote inappropriate, adult‑oriented, or otherwise unsuitable content

12. Prohibited Competitive, Technical & Data Misuse

You must not:

• Access Maitey through bots, scripts, crawlers, scrapers, automated clients, or any method other than the official app and supported Apple system integrations
• Access, probe, call, or use Maitey APIs, cloud functions, storage, databases, App Group data, sync systems, AI endpoints, or backend services outside the official app experience
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, decrypt, derive source code from, bypass, interfere with, overload, or circumvent Maitey or its security, access controls, subscriptions, usage limits, or technical protections
• Systematically collect, extract, harvest, copy, cache, aggregate, or republish Maitey content, feature outputs, trip recommendations, generated suggestions, metadata, prompts, screenshots, interface layouts, or service data
• Use Maitey data, outputs, designs, wording, workflows, icons, names, marks, database structures, feature behaviour, screenshots, onboarding, or other materials to create, train, improve, market, or operate a competing or substitute product or service
• Misrepresent an app, service, website, integration, or account as being made by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Maitey without written permission
• Remove, obscure, or alter Maitey copyright, trademark, attribution, or proprietary notices

13. Third‑Party Services & Links

Maitey connects to APIs, AI services, map/search providers, and external websites, including OpenAI-powered features, Apple services, Google search, and social/web links you choose to share.

• When you use in-app Google search or Discover search features, results or snippets may be loaded from Google or external websites.
• When you use Social imports, third-party social or web content may be fetched, previewed, OCR-processed, analysed by AI, and matched against map/search results to suggest places.
• When you share, print, scan, or open QR codes, information may pass through device cameras, operating-system share sheets, printers, map apps, Wi-Fi joining flows, social platforms, messaging apps, web browsers, hosting providers, or other third-party tools selected by you or the scanner.
• We apply SafeSearch parameters where available, but we cannot guarantee that all adult or inappropriate content will be filtered out.
• These third‑party services have their own terms and privacy policies — you should review them and use them at your own discretion.
• You are responsible for what you search for and view, and you must not use Maitey to access illegal or adult content.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If you keep using Maitey after changes, you’re agreeing to the updated Terms.
